Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013)

Kasi, a young man from Kerala, sets off on a long motorcycle journey with his friend Suni, without telling his family where he is going or why. As they ride across India, through the plains, the coast and the hills, the reason gradually emerges: Kasi is heading for Nagaland, to find Assi, the young woman from the North-East he fell in love with in college, who has disappeared from his life. The road brings them strangers, landscapes and some real danger. Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, meaning 'blue sky, green sea, red earth', was one of the first road movies in Malayalam, shot on location across the country. It helped make Dulquer Salmaan a star of the new-wave Malayalam cinema, and Rex Vijayan's music and Gireesh Gangadharan's camerawork are much admired.
