Chaar Sahibzaade tells the story of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh: the elder two, Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh, who fought in the battle of Chamkaur, and the younger two, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, who stood by their faith when captured by Mughal authorities in Sirhind. The film treats this central chapter of Sikh history with reverence, avoiding any depiction of the Guru himself, and Om Puri's narration guides the viewer through it. Made by Harry Baweja in 3D animation and released in Punjabi, Hindi and English, it became a remarkable success, among the highest-grossing Punjabi-language releases of its time and a landmark for Indian animation. It was followed in 2016 by Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur. Families often watch it together for its message of courage and faith.
