Sundarapandian (2012)

Sundarapandian is the cheerful, generous son of a village head near Madurai, the kind of man who would do anything for his friends. When one of them falls for Archana, a schoolgirl who rides the same bus, Sundarapandian steps in to help, but Archana has her own feelings, and rival suitors, wounded egos and caste pride begin to turn friendship into enmity. S. R. Prabhakaran's debut, produced by and starring Sasikumar, was a sizeable hit and a fine example of the rural Tamil "friendship" film. It marked Lakshmi Menon's Tamil debut and features Vijay Sethupathi, just before his breakout, in a grey role. It was remade in Kannada as Raja Huli.
