Do Hawaldar (1979)

Do Hawaldar ("two constables") is a 1979 Hindi comedy directed by Kedar Kapoor, giving the lead to two of the best-loved comedians of the era, Asrani and Jagdeep, as a pair of hapless policemen. Zarina Wahab, popular at the time for her gentle roles opposite Amol Palekar, plays the female lead. The film relies on the duo's slapstick, wordplay and confusion as they try to do their jobs and, inevitably, stumble onto something bigger than they expected. It is a light entertainer, worth watching for its two comic stars.
