Subhash is the idle, fun-loving younger son of a hard-working father, overshadowed by his disciplined elder brother, a promising kickboxer. He spends his days fooling around with friends, chasing a rich girl and ignoring the girl next door who truly cares for him. When his brother is badly injured before a big championship by a rich rival, Subhash finally has to take responsibility, train seriously and face that rival in the ring. Thammudu ('younger brother') is a Telugu adaptation of Aamir Khan's Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, with kickboxing replacing the cycle race. It was a big hit and an early milestone for Pawan Kalyan, a trained martial artist, and Ramana Gogula's songs were hugely popular.
