Description

Major Pratap Chauhan is a ruthless instructor who turns raw recruits into commandos. One of them, the cheerful Peter D'Souza, leaves the army and goes home to a Bombay neighbourhood ruled by extortionists, where he refuses to pay and is killed. Chauhan comes to the city to find out what happened, and finds frightened, silent citizens and a system that protects the criminals, so he decides to fight the war his own way. Prahaar was Nana Patekar's only film as director. The training scenes were shot realistically, and Madhuri Dixit appears without make-up in an unusually simple role. It is a raw, angry film about civic apathy and courage.
