Anuradha Verma is one of Mumbai's most formidable criminal lawyers, known for winning cases others think impossible. Then her young daughter is abducted, and the kidnapper's demand is not money: she must get a man already convicted of the rape and murder of a young woman acquitted on appeal, against the clock. Helped by her old friend Yohan, a suspended police officer with a rough manner and a sharp mind, she starts digging into the case and finds that the original investigation hides more than it shows. Shabana Azmi plays the victim's mother, Garima. Jazbaa is a remake of the South Korean thriller Seven Days (2007) and marked Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's return to the screen after a five-year break. Irrfan Khan's laconic, wisecracking Yohan, delivering Kamlesh Pandey's punchy dialogue, was widely singled out as the highlight.
