Description

A girl is married off to a city doctor while in love with a struggling musician, and when the musician turns up ill and penniless the husband takes him in without knowing who he is. The film that launched Anil Kapoor as a lead, and the Hindi version of a Tamil original. The print opens with its own censor card, and the card calls the film Woh 7 Din, with the numeral: certificate 05, issued at Bombay on 23 June 1983 and expiring ten years later to the day, U for unrestricted exhibition, 35mm, 16 reels, 3994.48 metres. At 24 frames a second that length is 8737 seconds; this copy runs 8385, which is 95.97 per cent of it - the PAL ratio almost exactly, so what plays here is the complete film in a 25fps transfer. Then a card nobody expects: DEDICATED TO THE FOND MEMORY OF LATE GEETA BALI, over her photograph in a frame of flowers. Geeta Bali had died in 1965, eighteen years before this film. Surinder Kapoor, who produced it under his S. K. Films Enterprises banner, had begun his career in Bombay working for her. The credits are a family business. Surinder Kapoor produces, his son Anil Kapoor has the part that made him, and another son - Sanjay Kapoor, an actor himself a decade later - is credited PRODUCTION CONTROLLER. The screenplay is K. Bhagya Raja's, from his own Tamil film; the music is Laxmikant-Pyarelal's, recorded for Music India Ltd., and the playback singers are named on a card of their own: Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Anuradha Podwal and Shabbir Kumar.

What we found
The print carries its own CBFC certificate, which titles the film "Woh 7 Din" with the numeral. the print — frame 0, CBFC certificate 05
How we knowFrame 0, legible at 520 px: CENTRAL BOARD OF FILM CERTIFICATION, Certificate for UNRESTRICTED Public Exhibition, with the U and the Devanagari अ; Film 'Woh 7 Din' (Hindi); Gauge 35mm, Length 3994.48 Metres, Reels 16; Certificate Number 05; Date of issue 23-6-1983; Date of expiry 22-6-1993; Bombay. Indian certificates of the period ran for ten years, which is why the card carries an expiry at all - a fact that disappears from every database that records only a rating letter.
We corrected this A song listed here on 16 October belongs to another film and has been withdrawn. our own record — songs table, 2026-10-16 and 17
How we know"Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi" was entered on this film's song list and is from Kranti (1981): the label uploads credit Nitin Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar and the song does not appear in this picture. It was written from memory rather than from a source, and was caught by a rule that requires a film's own name to appear in any recording matched to its songs. The list is now empty and the reason is recorded.
The certified length proves this copy complete and PAL: 3994.48 metres is 8737 seconds at 24fps, and the file runs 8385. arithmetic on the certificate — 3994.48 m / 0.4572 m per s
How we know35mm runs 16 frames to the foot, 0.4572 metres a second at 24 frames. The card's 3994.48 metres over 16 reels is therefore 8737 seconds. This copy runs 8385, which is 95.97 per cent - and a 25fps PAL transfer of a 24fps film comes out at exactly 96.00. Three seconds from the theoretical figure on a two-and-a-half-hour picture: nothing is missing, it is simply running four per cent fast.
The film is dedicated to Geeta Bali, who died eighteen years before it, and Sanjay Kapoor is its production controller. the print — dedication card at 20 s, crew cards at 190-260 s
How we knowTwo cards from the print. The first, straight after the censor certificate, reads DEDICATED TO THE FOND MEMORY OF LATE GEETA BALI over her photograph: the producer Surinder Kapoor had started out working for her in Bombay, and his banner's films carry the dedication. The second, deep in the crew credits, reads PRODUCTION CONTROLLER SANJAY KAPOOR - the producer's younger son, who would be a leading man himself ten years later, working as crew on the film that made his brother. Three Kapoors on one picture: Surinder producing, Anil starring, Sanjay on the floor.
