Aadupuliyattam (2016)

For a wealthy businessman, family and fortune seem secure, until disturbing events and a figure from the past begin to haunt him, pointing to a curse and a long-buried wrong. Characters played by Hindi veteran Om Puri and by Ramya Krishnan are drawn into the mystery as the line between the supernatural and human scheming blurs. Directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam, Aadupuliyattam is a Malayalam horror thriller starring Jayaram, a star best known for family comedies, in a darker role than usual. The title refers to a traditional board game of goats and tigers, a metaphor for the cat-and-mouse game at the heart of the story. It was one of Om Puri's last Malayalam appearances before his death in 2017.
