The eldest of four brothers runs the family business in a small town and has spent his life keeping his younger brothers and their growing households together under one roof. The bonds are warm but fragile: marriages bring new loyalties, a financial setback creates strain, and small slights between the brothers' wives and the brothers themselves begin to harden into a rift. The film follows how the family bends under that pressure and what each brother is willing to give up for the others. Aanandham was the debut of director N. Linguswamy, who later made Run and Sandakozhi, and it became a sleeper hit thanks to its gentle tone, S. A. Rajkumar's songs and Mammootty's dignified performance as the elder brother.
