Aaru is a tough young man from the coastal slums of North Chennai, fiercely loyal to Viswanathan, the local politician-strongman who has used him and his friends as muscle for years. He falls for Mahalakshmi, a spirited girl who sees the good in him. When a brutal act of treachery reveals what his boss really thinks of the people who serve him, Aaru sets out on a bloody campaign to bring down the empire he helped build. Hari's film is a fast, loud mass entertainer with Suriya in rough, energetic form, Devi Sri Prasad's songs and Vadivelu's comedy track. The Hindi dub name falsely links it to Ghajini; the two films are unrelated.
