Aasha (1957)

Aasha is a 1957 Hindi film that pairs Kishore Kumar, at the height of his comic-hero years, with dancer-actress Vyjayanthimala, with Pran as the villain. Kishore plays a good-natured, music-loving young man whose easy life gives way to trouble when he is suspected of a crime he did not commit, and the film moves between comedy, romance and melodrama in the manner of its era. It is best remembered today for C. Ramchandra's music, above all the playful "Eena Meena Deeka", which became one of the best-known Hindi film songs of the 1950s and has been quoted and reused many times since.
