Abaddham (2010)

Abaddham ("lie") is the Telugu version of Poi, the 2006 film that turned out to be the last feature directed by the veteran K. Balachander. Uday Kiran plays a young man whose life is shaped by evasions and half-truths, and Vimala Raman, in her first film, plays the woman whose love makes him confront them. Prakash Raj, a long-time Balachander favourite, appears in a key role that frames the story's questions about honesty and fate. Like many of the director's films, it is a thoughtful relationship drama rather than a formula romance, with songs by Vidyasagar. It also marked Uday Kiran's move into Tamil cinema.
