Maddy, an architecture student, falls hard for the carefree, commitment-shy Payal, and against her own rules they end up living together for five happy years. Then, suddenly, she is gone, apparently engaged to someone else, and Maddy is left a wreck. Unable to accept it, he begins to retrace their relationship and to search for the truth about why she left, in a story told partly in flashback across their years together. Katti Batti, whose title is the playground phrase for falling out and making up, begins as a breezy romantic comedy and gradually turns into something more serious. Nikkhil Advani directs, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's soundtrack includes the hit "Sarfira". It was one of Kangana Ranaut's releases in the same year as her success with Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
