Dil Ki Rani (1947)

Dil Ki Rani ("queen of the heart") is a 1947 Hindi romantic drama directed by Mohan Sinha, pairing Raj Kapoor and Madhubala in the year both of them were starting out as leads; they also appeared together in Kidar Sharma's Neel Kamal the same year. Madhubala was only about fourteen, and Raj Kapoor had not yet made his own first film as a director. The story is a romance in which friendship and love pull against each other. The music is by S. D. Burman, then in his first years in Bombay. The film is of real historical interest as an early glimpse of two of Hindi cinema's greatest stars.
