Nadir Shah (1968)

Nadir Shah is a 1968 Hindi historical drama directed by S. N. Tripathi, a specialist in costume and mythological films who also composed the music. It is built around the Persian ruler Nadir Shah, whose invasion of Mughal India in 1739 and sack of Delhi became one of the most notorious episodes of the eighteenth century, and weaves romance, court intrigue and swordplay into that background. Sheikh Mukhtar, known for his imposing screen presence, leads the cast with Feroz Khan, then a young actor on the way to stardom, and Kumari Naaz. It is a period spectacle of the kind Tripathi made throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
