Meenakshi lives in Pune with an eccentric Maharashtrian family who want her married off quickly, but she lives in her own Bollywood fantasies. Working at an art college library, she becomes obsessed with Surya, a quiet Tamil art student whose scent drives her wild, and follows him around while trying to work out who he is and what secret keeps him so withdrawn. Meanwhile her family lines up a very ordinary suitor. Aiyyaa is a quirky Hindi romantic comedy written and directed by Marathi filmmaker Sachin Kundalkar, and it was Malayalam star Prithviraj's first leading role in a Hindi film. Rani Mukerji throws herself into broad comedy and fantasy dance numbers, especially the Tamil-film parody song Dreamum Wakeupum. Amit Trivedi composed the music.
