A Tamil devotional film about the Virgin Mary venerated at Velankanni, the famous Catholic shrine on the Coromandel coast. Told through several stories, it shows the miracles linked to the shrine, from the healing of a lame boy to the rescue of sailors caught in a storm, which are part of local tradition. Gemini Ganesan, Padmini and Jayalalithaa lead the cast. The young Kamal Haasan appears in a small role and is also said to have worked as an assistant on the film during his early years in the industry.
