Annapoorani grows up in a traditional, vegetarian Brahmin household in Srirangam, where her father cooks offerings at the temple. Her gift for flavour and her dream of becoming a professional chef put her on a collision course with her family, especially when training at a catering college means handling meat. With her friend Farhan's support and a famous chef as her model, she fights her way through a five-star kitchen and towards a national cooking contest, while her ageing father struggles to accept her choices. It is Nayanthara's 75th film and a feel-good underdog story set in kitchens rather than sports grounds. After its release the film became the subject of complaints over its depiction of religious practice and was withdrawn for a time, which gave it more attention than its theatrical run.
