Ann Mariya is a bright, spirited schoolgirl who lives with her mother and goes to a convent school. When an adult at school treats her unfairly and humiliates her, she becomes determined to teach him a lesson, and for help she turns to a small-time crook who agrees to be her ally for his own reasons. Their odd partnership gives the film most of its comedy and heart. Annmariya Kalippilaanu ("Ann Mariya is angry") was directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, who made Aadu, and stars Sara Arjun, best known for Deiva Thirumagal and the Hindi film Ek Thi Daayan, in the title role. Sunny Wayne plays the crook, and Dulquer Salmaan makes a special appearance. Shaan Rahman's songs suit its light, warm tone.
