When a village temple is left without protection during a ritual, a malevolent force escapes and enters the old family palace of a wealthy household. Strange deaths and unexplained happenings follow, and the family's daughter, her fiance and a set of bumbling servants and relatives try to understand what is haunting them, only to discover that the spirit is tied to a buried family secret. Aranmanai 2 is Sundar C.'s follow-up to his 2014 hit horror comedy Aranmanai, again mixing scares, slapstick and glamour songs. Soori and Kovai Sarala lead the comedy, and the climax features a large goddess statue sequence. The series continued with Aranmanai 3 and 4.
