Aranmanai Kaavalan ('the palace guard') is a 1994 Tamil action drama directed by Selva Vinayagam, starring R. Sarathkumar, then rising as a mass hero, with Sivaranjani as the heroine and Goundamani supplying the comedy. The story follows a strong, loyal man who stands guard over a wealthy family and its honour, taking on scheming relatives and villains while a romance grows along the way. It mixes action, family sentiment and Goundamani's comic track in the style of 1990s Tamil commercial cinema. In Hindi it is known as Pyaar Ki Takkar.
