Ardhanaari (2016)

Ardhanaari ("half woman"), directed by Bhanu Shankar Chowdary, stars Arjun Yajath as a transgender person who becomes a vigilante against corruption and crime, with Mouryaani in the female lead. The film uses the figure of Ardhanarishvara, the deity who is half Shiva and half Parvati, as its emblem, and sets out to show a marginalised character as the hero of a mainstream action story, an uncommon approach for its time in Telugu cinema.
