The world's water supply has turned toxic and humanity is running out of time. Jennifer Ashgrove, the scientist closest to a cure, collapses from exhaustion and is told to take a break. She retreats to a remote cabin with her husband, hoping time away will spark the breakthrough she needs, but the getaway also exposes cracks in their marriage, and she begins to suspect that her mind, and her memories, are not entirely to be trusted. Ashgrove is a quiet, character-driven Canadian science-fiction drama rather than a disaster spectacle. It was made during the pandemic with a small cast, and much of the dialogue was developed through improvisation by director Jeremy LaLonde with his leads Amanda Brugel and Jonas Chernick, who also share writing credit.
