Named by his patriotic family after the revolutionary Chandrasekhar Azad, the hero lives up to the name when he crosses paths with a dangerous terrorist and the political forces protecting him. Between a romance with a city girl (Shilpa Shetty) and a deeper bond with a village woman (Soundarya), he finds himself fighting a battle much larger than personal revenge. Azad is a 2000 Telugu patriotic action film directed by Tirupathi Swamy and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt, with songs by Mani Sharma. It was one of Nagarjuna's big releases of that year and features Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty in a Telugu role.
