Raju is a young man from a struggling family in a Telangana village of the 1980s. Devaki is the daughter of the dora, the feudal landlord whose word is law, and she is kept almost entirely within the walls of his manor. A glance becomes a secret romance carried on through notes and stolen meetings, while the village around them simmers with resentment against the landlord's power and with the influence of left-wing revolutionaries. K. V. R. Mahendra's debut film is a quiet, period love story, praised for its feel for village life, its soft music and its unhurried pace. It marked the debuts of Anand Deverakonda, younger brother of Vijay Deverakonda, and Shivathmika Rajashekar, daughter of actors Rajasekhar and Jeevitha.
