Hulchul (1951)

Hulchul (1951), whose title means commotion, pairs Dilip Kumar and Nargis, one of the favourite screen couples of the time, in a romantic drama in which love is threatened by jealousy and a man ends up behind bars. Kathak dancer Sitara Devi appears in a prominent role, and Balraj Sahni plays a jailer; he was famously arrested for his political activities during the making of the film. The film belongs to the run of Dilip Kumar romantic tragedies of the early 1950s.
