Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya ("Earn Eight Annas, Spend a Rupee") is set in a Mumbai chawl, where three families live side by side. The husbands, led by Govinda, are good-natured but careless, spending more than they earn and leaving their wives to cope. Fed up, the wives, among them Juhi Chawla and Tabu, take matters into their own hands and set out to run the households, and the neighbourhood, on their own terms, with comedy and some family drama along the way. Telugu veteran K. Raghavendra Rao directs this ensemble comedy, built on the screen energy of Govinda and the comic timing of Johnny Lever.
