Birla Bose is a Mumbai police officer with a fearsome record of killing criminals in encounters, a reputation that has cost him his relationships and his peace of mind. On a new assignment in Rameswaram he is handed a young migrant labourer accused of a horrific crime, with orders that make clear the man is not expected to survive. As Birla looks closer, he begins to doubt the boy's guilt and turns against those who want a quick, convenient death. Thuppakki Munai ("gun point") is a serious police drama that questions the culture of encounter killings and mob justice, with Vikram Prabhu in one of his better-reviewed roles and Hansika Motwani as the woman he loves.
