Student No. 1 (2001)

Aditya arrives at a law college under police escort: he is a prisoner, serving a sentence for murder, who has been permitted to continue his studies. Students and teachers are wary of him, but a young woman, played by Gajala, is drawn to him, and in flashback the film reveals his earlier days at an engineering college, his family and the events that led to the crime. Student No. 1 was the first feature directed by S. S. Rajamouli, many years before Baahubali and RRR, and one of the first hits for the young Jr. NTR, whose energy and dancing carry it. M. M. Keeravani, Rajamouli's cousin, composed the music, beginning one of Telugu cinema's longest director-composer partnerships.
