Balu works at a cinema box office and keeps every woman at arm's length, partly because his family has a habit of turning potential girlfriends into "sisters" through tying the rakhi. His father, played by Naresh, has spent years failing his degree exams, since only a graduate can inherit the family fortune. When a young woman moves in as a paying guest, Balu falls for her, and then learns that a planned marriage between their families could make the two of them cousins. Samajavaragamana was one of the sleeper hits of 2023, praised as a clean family comedy with sharp writing. The title comes from a classical Tyagaraja kriti also made famous by the Telugu classic Sankarabharanam.
