Abbaigaru (1993)

Abbaigaru ("the young master") is a 1993 Telugu family drama directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana, who was then among the most successful directors in Telugu cinema. It stars Venkatesh with Meena, one of his most popular screen partners of the 1990s, and veteran actress Jayachitra in an important role. The film centres on a mother, a son and a daughter-in-law, and the tensions and emotions of family life that were the staple of Telugu hits of the era. It is one of several family-centred films Venkatesh made in that decade, a phase that built his strong following among family audiences.
