Baadshaho (2017)

In 1975, with the Emergency in force, the government seizes the treasure of Rani Gitanjali, a Rajasthani royal who once crossed a powerful politician. The gold is to be moved by road to Delhi under heavy army guard. Gitanjali turns to Bhawani, her devoted bodyguard, who recruits a smooth-talking con man, a locksmith with a drinking problem and a sharp young woman to rob the convoy on the open highway. Opposing them is Major Seher Singh, an officer who does not intend to lose a single bar. Baadshaho is a full-blooded period heist, shot across the Rajasthan desert, with dialogue in the punchy style of writer Rajat Arora. Its recreated version of the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan qawwali Mere Rashke Qamar became one of the biggest songs of the year.
