Bhagat is the son of a former revolutionary who now believes change must come through the law, and he is preparing to become an IPS officer. His plans are upended when he crosses a powerful gangster who controls the town where he lives, and the confrontation forces him to decide how far he is willing to go. Baanam ("arrow") marked the debut of Nara Rohit, nephew of N. Chandrababu Naidu, and of writer-director Chaitanya Dantuluri, and was noticed for its serious, grounded tone, a contrast to the louder action films of the time. Vedhika plays the love interest, Mani Sharma's music was well received, and the film earned Nara Rohit a reputation for choosing offbeat scripts.
