Badri is the younger son of a family whose father dotes on his disciplined elder son, a champion kickboxer. Badri himself is more interested in fun, flirting and avoiding work, and his childhood friend Janaki is the only one who believes in him. When his brother is badly injured by a rival before a major tournament, Badri must give up his idle ways, train hard and step into the ring himself. Badri is the Tamil remake of Pawan Kalyan's Telugu hit Thammudu (1999), directed by the same filmmaker, and both films follow the pattern of the Hindi classic Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Ramana Gogula, who scored Thammudu, also composed the songs. It was Bhumika Chawla's first Tamil film.
