Bairagee (2022)

Shiva is a gentle, odd soul who has worked hard to bury the violent rage that once ruled him, and he now lives quietly among ordinary people who value his kindness. In his small-town world he befriends Karna, a hot-headed local fighter, and grows close to a woman who sees the good in him. When he learns that a respected, well-connected man is abusing young girls and that no one in authority will act, Shiva has to decide whether to stay silent or let the anger he has locked away loose one more time. Bairagee is director Vijay Milton's Kannada reworking of his own Tamil film Kadugu (2017), rebuilt around Shiva Rajkumar, who plays a restrained, inward-looking hero rather than his usual mass persona. Dhananjay brings a rougher energy as Karna, and the film handles its difficult theme without exploitation.
