Bhairava works for a bank in Chennai, recovering bad loans with a mix of charm and muscle. At a wedding he meets Malarvizhi, a young woman from Tirunelveli, and soon learns that she is in grave danger: she has crossed P. K., a gangster turned educationist who runs a medical college as a money-making racket and crushes anyone who stands in his way. Bhairava travels south to take P. K. on, on his own turf, in a fight that moves from the streets to the courtroom and back. The film reunited Vijay with director Bharathan, who had made Azhagiya Tamil Magan with him, and paired him for the first time with Keerthy Suresh and with composer Santhosh Narayanan. Released for Pongal 2017, it is a full-on mass entertainer, with Jagapathi Babu as a suave villain.
