Bandook Dahej Ke Seene Par (1989)

Bandook Dahej Ke Seene Par ("a gun to the chest of dowry") is a 1989 Hindi social drama starring Shashi Kapoor, Shekhar Suman and Alok Nath. The film takes on dowry, one of the most persistent social evils in Indian family life, and as its fiery title suggests, it is less a gentle sermon than a story of people pushed to fight back against greedy in-laws and the suffering the custom causes to brides and their families.
