In Goa, an elderly woman lives alone, waiting for her son's family in Mumbai to visit. The family barely thinks of her, but her two young grandchildren decide to go to her themselves, setting off on their own across the countryside on a long and eventful journey. Barefoot to Goa is a gentle independent Hindi film by Praveen Morchhale, made with crowd-funding and travelling to many film festivals, and it explores the neglect of the elderly and the fading bonds between generations. Veteran actress Farrukh Jaffar, known for small but memorable roles in films such as Umrao Jaan, plays the grandmother.
