Bawre Nain (1950)

Bawre Nain ("crazy eyes") is a 1950 Hindi romantic drama written and directed by Kidar Sharma, who had launched Raj Kapoor as a hero in Neel Kamal (1947) and here pairs him with the lively Geeta Bali. It tells a story of love, separation and longing in the sentimental style of the time, and gave Geeta Bali one of her early successes. The film is above all remembered for its music, which made the name of composer Roshan; songs such as Khayalon Mein Kisi Ke and Teri Duniya Mein Dil Lagta Nahin became hits. It is a gem for admirers of early Raj Kapoor and golden-age film music.
