Do Ladke Dono Kadke (1979)

Do Ladke Dono Kadke ("two boys, both broke") is a 1979 Hindi comedy from Basu Chatterjee, the director of Rajnigandha, Chhoti Si Baat and Baton Baton Mein, whose films turned the ordinary lives of middle-class Bombay into gentle comedy. Amol Palekar and Asrani play two jobless friends always short of money, and Moushumi Chatterjee is the young woman who enters their lives. When an unexpected opportunity comes their way, their attempts to make the most of it lead to a series of comic complications. Like much of Basu Chatterjee's work, it relies on everyday situations, likeable leads and understated humour rather than spectacle. The music is by Rajesh Roshan.
