Madhava is the most famous thief in his village; the villagers joke that if he twirls his moustache at someone, that person's house will be robbed that night. Despite his trade he is kind-hearted and widely liked, except by the man whose daughter he loves. When a corrupt group plots to grab a temple's treasure and frame him for it, the thief must turn detective to save himself. Dongodu ("thief") is the Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit Meesa Madhavan (2002), and it gave Ravi Teja one of his early solo successes in a role made for his mischievous energy.
