Sasti Dulhan Mahenga Dulha (1986)

As the title ("cheap bride, expensive groom") suggests, this mid-1980s Hindi film is a romantic social drama about the way dowry turns marriage into a transaction. Aditya Pancholi, then at the start of his career, plays the lead opposite Priya Tendulkar, best remembered as television's Rajni, with Mahesh Anand and Bina Banerjee in support. It was directed by Bhappi Sonie, the veteran behind 1960s hits such as Janwar and Brahmachari.
