Mehndi (1998)

Mehndi is a 1998 social drama starring Rani Mukerji and Faraaz Khan, made early in Rani Mukerji's Hindi career. It tells the story of a young woman whose marriage is poisoned by her in-laws' demands for dowry, and of the abuse she endures before she is pushed to fight back. Like many social films of its time, it uses melodrama to address a real and serious issue, and its main interest today is as one of Rani Mukerji's first leading roles.
