Description

Begunah ("innocent") is a 1957 Hindi musical comedy starring Kishore Kumar, with Shakila as the heroine and Helen among the cast. Shortly after its release, Paramount sued, saying the film copied the Danny Kaye comedy Knock on Wood (1954), and the Bombay High Court ordered the film withdrawn and its prints destroyed, making it one of the first copyright cases of its kind in Indian cinema. For decades the film was considered lost, though its Shankar-Jaikishan songs, including Mukesh's "Ae pyase dil bezubaan", survived and remained popular.
