Kanguva (2024)

In present-day Goa, Francis is a cocky bounty hunter who, with his partner and rival Angelina, tracks fugitives for the police. When a boy who has escaped from a secret research facility appears in his life, Francis feels an inexplicable connection to him. The story then travels back to the year 1070, to the island kingdom of Perumaachi, where the warrior Kanguva fights to protect his people from invaders and from the ruthless chieftain Udhiran, and makes a promise to a child that will echo across centuries. Suriya plays both roles, and Bobby Deol made his Tamil debut as Udhiran. Made on one of the largest budgets in Tamil cinema and released in several languages, the film was noted for its grand battle sequences, though its reception was mixed.
