Bhabhi is a 1957 family drama made by the Madras studio AVM and directed by the duo Krishnan-Panju, who specialised in emotional social films. Balraj Sahni plays the eldest brother of a household that begins to fall apart as the younger brothers marry and money and pride come between them, while his wife, played by Pandari Bai, is the moral centre of the family. Nanda, Jagdeep and Shyama play the younger generation. The film is remembered above all for Chitragupta's music, including Mohammed Rafi's sorrowful Chal ud ja re panchhi and the playful Chali chali re patang. It was a remake of the Tamil film Kula Deivam.
