Bhairathi Ranagal is a prequel to the 2017 Kannada hit Mufti, in which Shiva Rajkumar played the brooding don of the same name. This film goes back to his beginnings: a boy from Ronapura who grows up to be a lawyer, hoping to win justice for his village through the courts. When the law fails the people against powerful exploiters, Ranagal begins to take matters into his own hands, and the man who believed in the system becomes the system's most dangerous rival. Rukmini Vasanth plays the woman in his life and Rahul Bose a key antagonist. Director Narthan returned to the character he created, with music by Ravi Basrur, known for the KGF films.
