Bheema Theeradalli (2012)

Bheema Theeradalli ("on the banks of the Bheema") is set in the rugged Bheema river region of north Karnataka, long known for its feuds and gangs. Inspired by the real-life outlaw Chandappa Harijan, it follows a man who is driven by injustice and caste humiliation into a life of crime, and who becomes both feared and admired as he fights the landlords, rivals and police who hunt him. Duniya Vijay, known for his raw, physical screen presence, plays the lead, with Pranitha Subhash as the woman he loves and Umashree as his mother. Om Prakash Rao directs it as a gritty rural action drama, and its connection to a real figure drew considerable attention and some controversy on release.
