Dev Kaushal sells toilet paper, works late and has little left to say to his wife Reena. One night he comes home early and finds her with another man, Ranjit. Too timid to make a scene and short of money, Dev hits on a better idea: an anonymous blackmail note to Ranjit. Ranjit, who depends on his rich wife Dolly, in turn squeezes Reena for the cash, and soon a widening circle of people are blackmailing one another, with Dev at the centre and nobody quite sure who is pulling the strings. Blackmail is a dark comedy from Abhinay Deo, the director of Delhi Belly, and it gives Irrfan Khan one of his finest deadpan comic roles, released shortly before his illness was made public.
